Blame the EPA. The power plant at Chamois will close in September, due to the cost of complying with increasingly tough regulations from the feds.
Central Electric Power Co-Op announced the plan to close the operation. The co-op says coming into line with EPA guidelines would cost as much as $14 million. 28 staffers will lose their jobs when the plant closes. Central Co-Op says it will help those workers with job placement services.
