Missouri Senators look to take back some control following the controversial purchase of a multi-million dollar airplane. The Highway Patrol bought the 5-point-6 million dollar plane in December with a fund set aside for that purpose, but didn’t tell lawmakers first. Governor Nixon has already flown several times on the new aircraft.
Yesterday, the Senate gave initial approval to a bill that makes the Highway Patrol go through the Capitol before using the fund to buy any vehicle over 100-thousand dollars. The House has already sent a bill to the Senate that would make the new plane’s flight logs a public record.
