First of all--Troll alert! The March 1, 2010 review is a copy of a review of another restaurant on this site, with the same claim of "bleach water" and a burning mouth. I would not believe a word of it.
As for my experiences, they have been great. After the restaurant was remodeled and the karaoke went away, it became a lovely experience to eat there. The food had always been good, but it is now something to look forward to. We were last there on Valentine's Day for the special meal--it was a delight! If you go, don't miss the bread pudding. It's to die for.

1st time visitor. the waiter tried to ignore us while we waited to be seated. we ordered appatizers but they didn't arrive until with the main course. took a while to get drink refills. the waiter was nonchalont. overall the food was good but the service could improve.

I will never go back. First of all, I was served an ice cold cup of "bleach water". Yes, someone accidently poured several cups of water from a pitcher used for cleaning. After the burning in my mouth stopped, I was told by the manager that my meal would be free. Unfortunately, or fortunately however you look at it, I refused to eat since I was a little hesitant on what may be in the food.

My husband and I frequently dine out, and enjoy gourmet dinners. Food was great, but staff needs major improvment. Our waitress was very rude and walked around with her nose stuck in the air. Not to mention, we had to ask multiple times for items that she kept "forgetting". From now on we will go to Alexandro's or Domineco's.

The first few times we went here the food was magnificent and the service very friendly if not very prompt.
The last time our favorite item on the menu, the pan seared duck breasts had been removed and we were told that the chef had moved on and there was a new one in charge. That was immediately discernible when the escargot arrived and instead of the creamy garlic sauce we had become accustomed to, it was cooked in a wine sauce (no garlic)that gave it a sour taste and it was a bit overdone. The meal continued to disappoint and the service was miserable.
I'd previously rated this place with 5 stars but it's now a 3 at best. We'll be going to Alexandro's the next time we want a fine meal in Jeff City.

Service is so-so, but that seems to be par for the state. The food, from an ovo-lacto vegetarian's point of view has been a lovely complement to the view.

Waited over 45 minutes for an appetizer when the place wasn't busy. Was disappointed in the amount of food for the price. Will this be yet another restaurant at the top of this building that doesn't make it?

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Sapphire's and were delighted with the decor and view of the city. We ordered steaks and they were perfectly cooked as we had ordered. the wait staff were attentive, we were particularly pleased when the Executive Chef came to our table and asked us if we had enjoyed the meal. We will definitely return to this restaurant.

We went for my birthday and the meal for the two of us was more than $100. It was not $100 food. The bread is sliced pieces of pizza crust. That tells you a lot right there. If you go, better hope they are not seating agroup at the same time. There was a group of 30 there and they seated them at tables right beside us. The noise was awful. We waited 45 minutes just for an appetizer. We won't be back.

I went to Sapphire for lunch one day and my experience was terrible. I asked for medium burger, I got medium-well, but if it wasn't enough not getting your food the way you want, how about getting a HAIR in it, right after you've already eaten half, and you when you picked up the 2nd half, you notice hair on the plate.
What's more disappointing is that the waitress did not bother to offer to replace the food, she just took the plate and gave me my bill. I'm like what was that? I should not have paid the bill and let them eat the cost but I'm not like that. I not only gave her a tip but also paid the bill and just never went back.
Sapphire is one of the classy restaurants in Jefferson City, you would think that they would take a better pride at their service and food. In addition, I emailed the Exec Chef, you would think he would at least apologize but noooooooo, no words, nothing. I would never go back to that restaurant even if I was given a free meal.
I don't feel like eating HAIR again, that's the most disgusting thing you'll find in your food. DISGUSTING!

My daughter, Wife and I just ate at Sapphire at the Doubletree. My wife and I ordered filets of different variety, and my daughter had the cheese pizza. The steaks were absoltely outstanding, perfectly cooked as ordered and the mashed potatoes and aparagus were excellent. The pizza was very tasty.

I thought I'd counteract some of the negative reviews on here with a positive one. I took my girlfriend out to dinner at Sapphire for her birthday, and we both thought the food and service were excellent. Everyone on the staff was very friendly and attentive. My girlfriend had the mahi mahi and rice, and they were very good and not dry at all as mentioned in another review. She thought the grilled pineapple slice underneath the fish was a nice touch and really brought out the flavor. Our only complaint was that the food and drinks were rather pricey for Jeff City, but you get what you pay for, and you're probably paying for the view as much as the food. I do agree with some of the other reviews that salads should be included with the entrees, especially given the prices. But unlike other reviewers, we were at least offered both salads and bread, and their signature bread was really good an unlike any other restaurant's. Overall, it was a fine dining experience!

To many demands, not enough service

I first ate at Sapphire for lunch soon after it opened. I ordered a house salad and a cup of onion soup. The very small house salad, delivered on a chilled plate and swimming in a soupy bed of water, was not even the quality one would expect from a chain restaurant - the salad alone was priced at $9. The onion soup was composed of a cup of salty brown water. Yuck. I ate there again as a member of a Christmas party luncheon. We were asked to choose an entree ahead of time. I chose prime rib, medium rare. The meat was WAY overcooked, tough and cold. The side items - a tiny dollop of mashed potato with sauteed zucchini - were cold. Not kind of warm. Not romm temperature - COLD. The wait staff told us they do not serve bread or rolls except by request. No salad was offered with the entree - just overcooked cold prime rib with cold potatoes and zucchini. Yuck. The view from this restaurant simply does not justify the horrible quality of the food and the inflated prices. Do not waste your time and money eating at Sapphire.

I had lunch there yesterday. Service was excellent. I ordered the Double Tree Salad and I can honestly say it was the freshest and best salad I've ever had. And there was a lot of it.

Though the view from the restaurant is fantastic, the food is far from it. We started the meal off with the calamari which was actually very excellent. However, the entrees were awful. I ordered the mahi-mahi and found it to be over-cooked and dry, and the rice on the side tasted like Uncle Ben's instant and was very unimpressive. For $18.00, it was an absolute disappointment. My father ordered the salmon and found it to be equally unpleasant. This restaurant is highly over-priced for such low quality food.
To top it all off, the service was very slow and our waiter, Bob, though amicable, was rather inattentive, especially considering how very few customers were present at the time.

My wife and I went there for our 20th Anniversary dinner last night 7-16-2008. The place looked great from the moment we arrived, and such a wonderful view of Downtown Jefferson City! The seating hostess, wait staff, head hostess, and even the Chef were all very attentive. There was a light, tasty bread appetizer that came with the water. The timing of the wait staff was excellant. Whenever I thought I might need something, they were there, unbidden, within moments, but yet they did not hover over us. Very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. Their wine recomendations went very well with our dinner selections. I highly recomend the bread pudding for dessert. By the time I got to the 3rd bite, I was afraid to take another one; I was afraid the next bite couldn't POSSIBLY be as good as the last one. It was that good. Really.

Food was first class and atmosphere was quiet and very nice. Pricing a little upscale but matches the quality of the food. Staff poorly trained. Don't expect any salad or bread with a meal and don't expect the wait staff to ask you if you want one of those.
