I am an Encore fan so when I saw their link I wanted to check out what others had said about their experiences. I guess that the vast majority of people are in agreement that this place is really fun and tasty! I also wanted to mention that in regards to the last post that I too was at the wine dinner on New Year's eve and my experience was quite the opposite. In fact I have been to 2 wine dinners now at Encore and both of them have been great. I don't know where else you can go in town for a four course meal for under $30.00?!? I would agree with the post that the dessert is always the best part, but I guess it should be! It is always funny how two people can take the same meal and environment and take away such a different experience. Just my two cents... :-)
If you go to Encore for wine and dessert, you'll be very satisfied, though the service is usually a bit aloof.
BUT, their four-course dinners leave much to be desired. We went to the one on New Year's, despite feedback from friends of ours that the four-course meal they went to was not worth half of what they spent.
For starters, they messed up the request we made well in advance for two of our party who are allergic to seafood. But that would have been fine...
the appetizer was shrimp cocktail, hard to mess that up. The salad was good. But the entree...lobster and steak... was well below par. The steak was all cooked to medium well...and the lobster...one of us sent it back because it was pastey and gag-worthy. And the replacement wasn't very good either.
The dessert was the best part of the meal, for sure.
All 8 of us agreed that we'll never go back for one of these overpriced meals. We could have spent the same money at CC's and gotten a meal that would have made us drool.
Encore should stick to what it does best: dessert and wine. Maybe even some appetizers.
But the entrees should be left to the full-service restaurants.
We joined some friends at Encore's Wine Dinner last night and it was one of the best dining experiences that we have had in Columbia. Four courses (all of the food was excellent in presentation and taste) and wine pairings. My wife and I loved that we could purchase tastes of each wine instead of a full glass. To be perfectly honest, it was one of the best nights out on the town that we have had in Columbia. We can't wait to go back to the next wine dinner. Highly recommended.
Visited Encore for the first time on Friday. I was blown away with the desserts. We shared a sampler platter of the prettiest desserts with a great bottle of sparkling wine. I had been to the Upper Crust for lunch but never at night for Encore and it was great. Really romantic atmosphere and the service was very pleasant. We will be back as there were many other desserts that I am going to have to try....I don't even want to ask about the calories! :-)
Went to Encore last weekend and tried their bananas foster dessert. I had never tried this dessert before but I had heard about it. It was so much fun because they actually cooked the desserts at our table for us....not to mention it was delicious. This place is a favorite for our girls night out!
Chocolate Decadence is to die for! Presentations are beautiful. Any time we have friends from out of town we bring them to Encore!
Unlike anything else in town. My husband and I frequent Encore after the Missouri Theatre shows and we love it. The staff is extremely friendly and they remember us every time we come in which is really nice these days. I have tried about 5 of the desserts and all of them have been great. The presentation will blow you away. Last time we went we got a sampler platter and it was perfect for sharing and trying many types of flavors. Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxing evening out on the town...
My girlfriend and I first heard about this place from friends that had been there. The first time we went we thought that dessert was the only thing offered since that is what our friends had talked about. This last time that we went we tried some the dinner items on the menu and were pleasantly suprised. The desserts are terrific but the Crabcakes and pizza that we had were some of the best we have had here in town. We thought it was worth sharing on this forum because it is a really great place that we plan to frequent.
We had heard lots of good things about this place so we checked it out. I had only been to The Upper Crust for lunch and it looks way different at night. Very nice atmosphere with candles on the tables, dim lights, and jazzy music. The desserts are incredible...by far the best presentation and taste in town. I will have a hard time paying for dessert anywhere else now. The service was not the best that we have ever had but it was busy. They could have maybe used another server as ours seemed to be overwhelmed by his tables. We will be back because I am going to crave the Chocolate Decadence!
This place is fantastic! I haven't found another place in Columbia like it. I was impressed by their impressive wine and drink selection and loved the prices. The staff was friendly and they have a great patio perfect for date nights. We can't wait to go back!
Encore is fantastic. It is a wonderful place to take out of towners as it is so special. Gives you the big city feel, here in College Town USA. The staff seems to go out of their way to please you. THe food is fantastic. I will definitely be there many more times.
We heard about Encore at the Best of Columbia Party so we decided to go check it out after the party was over. We had already sampled the chocolate cake at the party and it was great so we wanted to see if the rest of the desserts lived up to the images we saw. We were all blown away by how great this place was. I cannot believe that we had not heard about it before! I tried the Ultimate sundae which basically consisted of a warm fudge brownie, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, and tons of chocolate and caramel sauce. My husband had the strawberry something that had red velvet cake and strawberry ice cream. Our friends shared a sampler platter of what looked like about five different smaller desserts on one tray. The presentation is beautiful and they tasted just as good. We are so happy to find out about this place and we will be back.
I "Dragged" my boyfriend to Encore last night after hearing good things and seeing some photos of their desserts in a magazine. Lets just say that his mind was changed after he had his Apple Dumpling! Great place for a nice date. We had dinner and dessert for $13.00 each. Staff was friendly and place has a nice clean environment. You need to check it out...
Boyfriend and I went to Encore for the first time on our anniversary and have gone ever since!! We went for Valentine's day and it was so great. The food and desserts and very good and ALL the staff is friendly. Adam Guy has really done a GREAT job. I reccomend this place to everyone.
We went to Encore for Valentine's Day and now we are hooked! What more can you ask for than what Encore has to offer! We truly enjoy to visit anytime that we dine downtown.
We tried Encore for the first time this past weekend and we have found our new favorite place in Columbia! We had a short wait for a table but the desserts were incredible....highly recommend trying it out.
We went to Encore for a girls night out and it was one of the most fun nights that we have had in over a year! The atmosphere was great and the desserts were perfect. We spent more time taking pictures because they were so beautiful. Highly recommended!

This place is heaven on earth! The desserts are all elegant and incredibly created and the price isnt bad either for what you get. I would suggest this place to anyone but they seem to only be open on Thurs-Saturday
