Unreal on a few of these reviews. "made a spot on the white tablecloth", "did not ask if it was our first time there.", "something (more) similar to like a Chili's or Applebees or something".
If a wine spot on your tablecloth really ruined your dining experience that much I suggest you eat at home for now on. Also, Chili's and Applebee's have nothing on this place. This is by far one of the best dining facilities in all of mid Missouri, definitely puts the Pear Tree to shame.
Traveled from Columbia to check it out but was a little disappointed in the food. The entree was good but the temperature was not hot enough for me. Salad did not have enough variety of vegetables on it.The bread was dry, hard and cold. Dessert was still a bit frozen but tasty. Wait staff was friendly but did not ask if it was our first time there. When I was served my wine glass it had spilled wine on the glass and made a spot on the white tablecloth. I probably will not go back there. Not really worth my drive.
Emmet's is my most favorite place in the area! I have ate at many many local places, but for the money this place is hard to beat. Emmet's has a very nice location, great staff and just an awesome ambiance. I have had quite a few different things from the menu between my wife and I at Emmet's but if a had to recommend something, I'd say try the shrimp po-boy with a hurrican to drink.
I was somewhat disappointed with the menu selection. Only one steak offered and it was $28! No in between steaks. The fries are shoestring fries, no really what one wants for dinner. Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was lovely, just would rather see more of a steakhouse menu. Or something similar to like a Chili's or Applebees or something.
I live about 12 miles from Emmet's, in Howard County. It's the only place I suggest when I'm asked where I want to eat at! LOVED the event this last fall(funny name GREAT food) my son, 4 year old Granddaughter and I went to it, my son had never tried Emmet's before and now he is hooked! The staff is wonderful, great with children and the food is simply Fantastic! I recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it. It is a wonderful place for Howard County folks to have to brag about!!
My husband and I ran across Emmet's Kitchen & Tap on our vacation recently. What a treat. We do not eat out very often as the choices can be somewhat dissapointing. We wanted something a little different and not fast food. We simply ask a local antique store where the best place intown to eat was and she said Emmet's and was she right. We live in Iowa and will make an effort to come to Fayette again just for Emmet's. It is really refreshing to find a restraurant of this quality in a small town. I'll bet people drive from miles around to frequent this place. Wish we had something similar in Oskaloosa. Keep up the good work, everything was wonderful from service to food and drinks. Loved the little touches, like slicing the chicken breast on my salad on the diagonal. thank you again for a very pleasant experience.
The food is great! The atmosphere and staff are wonderful too. Price is great too. One of THE best places in central Missouri to have lunch or dinner!
Just happened across this place during the art festival and wow am I glad we did. Service was excellent as well as the food. Is a very nice place that we will make the drive from Columbia to visit over and over again.
We went to Emmet's yesterday for our anniversary and we couldn't have been happier. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful, the drinks were great and the food was delicious and interesting. The selection was nice and the variety made it hard to decide just what we wanted. We'll definitely go back and take friends as well. For the price this place is unbeatable.
I would just like to say that I personally love this
place!!! I love the fact that they just wait on you
and then just come back after you have recieved your
meal,...just to check on you. Make sure everything is o.k.. We always,..it's only been a few times,... but I always love your customer service. I love Emmet's! Five forks from Jamie! Thank You~Jamie
I was fortunate to dine at Emmet's with a friend resently. Since I live out of town I had missed the experience on several occasions when I was in Fayette. I want to extend my own congratulations to the owner and staff for a great place to dine nestled in central Missouri. An experience worth anyones drive to Fayette.
excellent place to take a loved one or the family. Very reasonable prices, and a great menu. Will have to agree if the owner could only learn some people skills this place would be awesome; however, I strongly suggest that you give it a try.
one of the best places around, forget the pear tree go to Emmets
Emmetts is wonderful. I love the Tilapia with his butter sauce. The Bayou Shrimp with the Jalapeņo dipping sauce is the best. You have to try Emmetts in Fayette on the square it is worth the drive.
Very good Food
I agree that Emmets is worth the drive. Their sweet potato french fries are excellent and tasty. The menu is reasonably priced and I love to look at the building decor. It is in an old building "on the square."
This restaurant is worth the drive. The menu is varied and costs are very reasonable. Each menu item we've had has been very tasty, well prepared, and the portions are generous. It's hard to choose between the gumbo and the salad with balsamic dressing. The tequilla drunken chicken is unique and well-prepared. It will bring you back. The courthouse fetticini (help me with the spelling here!) is recommended as well as the tillapia. Excellent bar, this is one of only a handful of Mid-Mo bars that really knows how to make a good margarita. It is tops. The owner isn't chatty but he certainly is not rude, the way he chefs I'll take his food skills any day and find someone else to make small talk with. (This is in response to another diner's post on Emmet's.) Try Emmet's if you have not already, you will not be disappointed.
Emmets is one of the best. If the owner would develope a personality and visit with his customers, he might pick up a few good ideas and become the best. I highly recomend this place. Try the Emmets pork or the drunken chicken. You will love it.
