I have used Donita's for my son's birthday cakes for the past 4 years we always do a themed cake and everyone loves them. I really love how they have added facebook to their website you can look for cakes. It's great.

I recently ordered 300 iced sugar cookies to be delivered as a thank you gift to a large group of people. Not only was Donita herself a pleasure to work with over the phone and extremely helpful, but I also got rave reviews on the cookies- beautiful AND delicious! Donita's went above and beyond my expectations and I would highly recommend them to anyone! :)
I wanted to havie my wedding there. At first the day I wanted was fine but a couple days later they called and said it was booked that day. ??? Then why said the day was open??? They wanted me to have my wedding on a Sunday cause they had an opening. Umm. yeah. as if!
I went there later on for my cuz's wedding and the food was nasty! I'm sooo glad I went some other place for my wedding. My chicken had a weird funky maybe burnt- smell. I didn't eat it. My grandma said the cake was not all the way cooked. How can you screw up on a cake???
After eating Donita's food at the Capital City Players Shikles Center FANTASTIC I went to Donita's on Easter it was busy but the food was met my expectations and the waitress who I had seen at Shikles even remembered me from the dinner theatre. WOW I will be back for Mother's Day
Thanks to whoever got my curosity up about Donita's-WE went their Father's Day the Buffet was outstanding! When I said how good it was and could I tell the Chef They told me go ahead, To my surprise (3 CHEF'S)were on staff and the kitchen was very clean,all stainless cabinets,everyone was busy and had their own work space,A very clean busy kitchen. I wish they were open every day.
Sounds to me like someone is mad or jealous. Any one that works as hard as that family does should have agold medal. It's amazing that someone has time to watch this website. Looks to me like they are doing fine, they have a clean place,and I know for a fact that you can please some people most of the time ,and some none of the time !I know she's going on 30 YEARS of Business SO DONITA'S Keep up the good work!We're PROUD OF YOU FOR putting up with everyone..... I am a person who will give a business the benefit of the doubt at least twice. I have done this with Donita's... and the second time was equally horrible, if not worse than the first time. I noticed a certain review that states that the other reviews are complete lies. While I understand that some customers have pleasant experiences with Donita and her business, I believe that these must be rare occasions.
Donita is not a person who should be running a business based solely on customer service. Each event that she catered for my family was unprepared and the staff were unpleasant. My parents commented that I should have let Taco Bell or McDonalds serve their food, because it would have been fresher and tastier.
I will never again use Donita's for catering or banquet services. I suggest that if you want your special day to be the way YOU want it, and not the way DONITA wants it... find another caterer!

I recently went to Donita's and am impressed with the renovations they have made--the entrance, dance floor, and bathrooms all have an updated and sophisticated feel. The food was incredible, the facilities were clean, and the services that were provided were above and beyond. I shopped around a lot before committing and there wasn't another place in the area that provided as much value for the money--and I don't regret going with Donita's Cakes & Catering. They have been in business for this long because they know what they're doing and do it well. I would definitely recommended Donita's to my friends.
Well all I can say is that I will NEVER eat their food..a close family member worked for her way back, and I know what her food is that she serves at banquets and such, its called..THE WEEKEND WEDDING BEFORE. The place is DIRTY, the staff is DIRTY, and the food is GROSS!
My family went there for the Mother's Day buffet. I think all their food is pre-processed like you get from Sisco or Menu Maker. Extremely salty tasting. We all had to drink lots of water the rest of the day to ofset this.
This place has become a running joke in our family now, after this bad experience.
I've been to several wedding receptions that used Donita's for the food and it was nasty every time. One time the chicken was burnt black to the bone and all the sides were cold (This is what was brought to the head table). I recently attended a bridal shower at Donita's with a country/western theme. I was totally grossed out to find that two of the tables centerpieces (cowboy boots with flowers in them) were Misty's actual boots that she wore there that day (apparently when she got there to decorate she couldn't find the decoration boots so she took hers off and used them)! Appalling!
And the bathrooms are ALWAYS nasty. I've been in cleaner port-a-potties!

I don't understand all of the negative comments on here about Donita's. We had a wedding out there and everything was fantastic. Everything was set up and decorated as planned and everyone loved the food. The fried chicked and ham were awesome, as well as all of the sides. We ended up getting our deposit back and money back for unopened kegs and bottles of wine that didn't get used. Overall, it was a great time!
i was one of the vendors for the relay for life vendor fair and personally walked up to donita, shook her hand as i introduced myself, and said 'thank you for offering your place for us to have our fundraiser.' little did i know she later changed her mind to charge us $100! no wonder she looked at me with disgust and shook my hand with her limp one!
i don't know....but i think that, if you're going to charge someone for the use of your facility, you shouldn't be able to conduct business--personal or otherwise--that day. several people had come in to pick up cakes, employees prepared more in the back, and donita herself sat at a vacant table and fed her grandchild! funky way of conducting business if you ask me!
Talk about a dirty place, the bathroom smelled awful and the place was a mess. The employee's were rude and Donita is awful to deal with, nothing went the way she said it would, but it was "our" fault. I will never use her establishment again or would I recommend it to anyone else. She should be checked out by the Health Dept or better yet just shut down.
I first spoke with Misty early April 2008. She was very nice to talk to on the phone and I thought that everything was going to be great! I was trying to organize a Spring Fling vendor fair to benefit the Relay for Life. She said we could have the hall for free as long as we got Coca Cola to donate a "case". We booked the event. Tried to get Coca Cola to donate a "case", which since they get so many requests for donations, we were turned down. Two days prior to the event, I spoke with Misty again and also met with her. She asked if we got the donation from Coke. I told her "no". So, at that point was told they would have to charge us $100 for the room! On the day OF the event, I met Donita. She is the RUDEST person I have EVER dealt with. I don't know how she stays in business. When we walked into the establishment- it STUNK! It was DIRTY! I started to clean up and was told to "Leave my stuff alone!" "Don't touch my tables!" One of the other girls emptied the trash cans! We had to put candles in the bathrooms because of the smell! She yelled at one of the vendors for taping her sgn to the wall, "IF any of that paint comes off you will PAY TO HAVE THE WHOLE PLACE DONE! iS THAT CLEAR?" Yelled at her! That went on the WHOLE day! It was HORRIBLE! The next day I called Misty again since she was a little easier to deal with. I asked her if we could drop the charges to $50 instead of $100 because of all of the trouble we had. She told me she was "shocked" that we couldn't get Coca Cola to donate. I told her that I could have lied to her and bought a case of coke if that meant no charge for the room. She laughed and said, "Not a case of COKE! A case of SYRUP!" She said if I'd called Coca Cola and asked for a donation for Donita's, they would have delivered the syrup themselves! I'm sorry, but that needed to be clarified. There were a lot of communication problems. She also told me that Donita (mom) told her that WE were the rudest people she'd ever met- Tell me? There were 14 vendors, plus our Relay for Life team, how can we ALL be that rude and why do we ALL have the same feeling toward Donita? I"m sorry this is so long, but bottom line- I will never deal with that bunch again. Yes, we still have to pay them $100 for the electric- (which they used most of because they were in the kitchen decorating cakes as we were having our vendor fair)- but that's okay. There were people there from the Lake, as well as Jefferson City and Columbia- I'm sure the word will be spread far and wide! They need to be OUT OF BUSINESS!
Horrible is an understatement! We used them as our caterer for prom last year and it was disgusting. I wouldn't feed the food to my dogs. If you are planning on using Donita's for your event, I advise you to reconsider!!!
DO NOT GO WTIH THIS FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY. THE CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN BROKE AND THEY TRIED TO BLAME IT ON US. THEY LEFT WITHOUT LEAVING THE ICED TEA AND COFFEE THERE WHICH THEY PROMISED THEY WOULD DO. ONCE WE TRIED TO CONTACT THEM TO BE REFUNDED THEY DIDN'T RESPOND BACK TO ANYTHING ATTEMPTS. HORRIBLE SERICE WITH INCONSIDERENT PEOPLE. DO NOT USE THEM!
I had a friend who worked here for about 3 weeks. She quit becuase she was discusted as to how they prepared their food. I have heard the stories. Beleive me, you dont want to eat here.
Food is crap. Cake is under cooked, still not done. Her cheese tray taste like day old cheese and her dinner plate the chicken smells a funky burn smell. Wanted wedding here on the phone she said the day I wanted is open but after I went there and made plans she then said oh no that day is booked you want it on a Sunday or perhaps have your wedding on a week day. Uh yeah ok, it's my wedding why in the hell why would I end up having it on some day like a Tuesday? Nobody would show up to eat her slop!!
